What is the price difference between real dishes and disposables?

A plate may rent for 50 cents, while a plastic plate costs 10 cents. Price differences are more noticeable in the catering staff required. Rental dishes must be cleaned, packaged, transported, unpacked, set up, bussed, cleaned, re-racked, packed and returned. Real dishes and the staff to service them may cost as much as your food. Plan to spend approximately 6 to 10 dollars more per person for rental and staffing when you select real dishes over disposables. Disposables are quickly discarded and have very little associated clean-up and handling costs.
